Julie Kathryn, also known as I AM SNOW ANGEL, is a composer, sound designer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist.
A versatile and skilled composer, Julie writes, performs, and produces music across a wide range of genres and moods, from moody electronica to emotionally rousing orchestral pieces to intimate acoustic ballads. Her compositions are deeply connected to the visual content she scores, teasing out the emotional essence of each scene and enhancing the storytelling with precision, nuance, and depth.
Julie recently composed and produced the original score for the feature-length film “The Unexpecteds”, which debuted at LALIFF in June 2024. Directed by Alejandro Montoya Marin and starring Matt Walsh, this indie heist film chronicles the journey of four friends seeking revenge after getting scammed by a crypto-currency influencer. Julie’s songs have also been included in the feature-length film “Youth in Oregon”, directed by Joel David Moore and starring Frank Langella, Christina Applegate, and Billy Crudup.
Additionally, as a prolific sound designer Julie has been commissioned to create ethereal sample packs for content libraries such as Bandlab and Splice, as well as loop content for Output’s famed Arcade sample engine. She regularly designs signature I Am Snow Angel synth patches for software companies such as Ableton and Cherry Audio.
Julie is on faculty at Berklee NYC, where she teaches master’s level courses in music production and songwriting. She has been featured in Magnetic Mag, MusicTech Magazine, TapeOp, Under the Radar, Wonderland, American Songwriter, and many more for her “soulful narration” and “dedication to craft.”
